Dinosaurs in Bollinger County, MO

Dinosaurs…what more can I say!  Well I can tell you about the Home of the Missouri Dinosaur!

The Bollinger County Natural History Museum in Marble Hill, MO is the home of the Missouri Dinosaur.  Originally housing the Will Mayfield College, the museum itself is to be admired itself.  Beautifully built in the 1800 the architectural design is breathtaking, restored in recent years the building now houses not only the Missouri Dinosaur, but many artifacts and history of Southeast Missouri.

Lewis & Clark, Native Americans, Civil War, and many fossil exhibits to see.  This museum is not the stale museum you see on TV, the museum very kid friendly there are dinosaur’s bones and fossils that you can touch and feel!
The top floor has a room designated for kids!  Coloring pages, puzzles, you can even build your own dinosaur (good luck with that, I tried), play dinosaurs, fossil digging, and even a dinosaur you can feed!  I am sure I am leaving something out!
Before leaving stop and check out their gift shop, you will find fossils, jewelry, and books written by local authors such as Stan Crader.  I found all items are priced very very reasonable we managed to escape with only spending $2  SCORE!!!

Depending on your level of enthusiasm, you will probably spend about an hour and half there, not really a day trip, but definitely worth stopping by.  Combine this stop with a drive by The CatRanch home of Tom Runnels, Massey Log Cabin, or you could drive to edge of town to see the Artesian Well located close to Woodland School.  My family always insist we stop off at Jay's BBQ, some of the LARGEST BBQ sandwiches you will ever see, or Jer's for good old fashion home cooking.

Check out their link for hours of operation and admission fees and special events!
